AI Product Manager

You decide what's worth building — and prove it.

About the role

AI PMs translate messy human problems into shippable AI features. You scope what a model should and should not do, define a quality bar when the output is probabilistic, and keep engineering, design, and leadership aimed at one outcome.

The differentiator is evaluation. Anyone can demo a prompt; you decide whether it is good enough to put in front of customers, and you can show the evidence.

You leave with a one-page AI feature spec, a prototype you built yourself, and the eval that proves the thing works.

Skills you build

  • Opportunity sizing for AI features
  • Eval design and quality benchmarks
  • Prototyping with AI tooling
  • Stakeholder alignment and roadmapping

Who this is best suited for

The careers below already carry most of what this role needs. The sprint adds the AI layer on top.

  • Product managers and product owners

Same job, new material — you add eval design and probabilistic quality bars.

  • Business analysts and strategy consultants

Opportunity sizing and problem framing are already core to your work.

  • UX researchers and designers

You know what users actually need, which is the hardest part of scoping AI features.

  • Domain experts in regulated industries

Deep context on where AI can and cannot be trusted is scarce and valuable.

Why reskill as a AI Product Manager?

Almost every product roadmap now has AI on it. Very few teams have someone who can tell a good AI feature from a good demo.

  1. 1

    AI features are table stakes

Roadmaps have shifted, and PMs who cannot scope model behaviour get routed around on the most visible work.

  2. 2

    Evaluation is the new differentiator

When output is probabilistic, deciding whether it is good enough to ship becomes a product call — and most teams have nobody who can answer it with evidence.

  3. 3

Prototyping is now part of the job

PMs who build a working prototype themselves move faster than those who write a spec and wait.

The window where AI fluency is a differentiator rather than a baseline is closing. Ship one evaluated AI feature and you are in the group setting the bar.

What kinds of companies hire this role

  • Software companies retrofitting AI into an existing product
  • AI-first startups shipping their first commercial features
  • Enterprise innovation and digital transformation teams
  • Platform and internal-tools teams building AI for their own staff
